RIP Robert

My first Husband Robert JR. passed away May 9 2006.  So much has changed since then it is strange to think back to then. I don’t really think there is a point to this post it is mostly just me venting.
I feel kind of strange just talking about it. I have a new husband and some times all most feel guilty for thinking about him, but even if I could forget him I wouldn’t want to.
I’m not going to lie I was really mad at first for him abandoning me with a two year old. I was only 23 I was too young to be a widow blah blah blah. But I have forgave as much as a person can forgive for stuff like this. Anyone who has known someone close to them who committed suicide knows it is a strange arrangement of emotions composed of guilt, anger, sadness, denial, and everything in between.
I loved him and now I am just thankful for the time we did get to spend together. Even if they weren’t all ways the happiest. And if he is somewhere reading this I want to reassure him that I know that you loved me to.
Also I’m thankful for the gift you gave me that looks more like you everyday . Andrew misses you to.
Even though I know spending time thinking of what could have been is a waste of time I still do it. I hope where ever you are now you found the happiness you deserved. You were a great man..
He get's that from you
What hurts the most

The Real Story of Mother's Day

I love stories of strong women that made history. I also like bringing them to other people's attention. Hey they deserve it! In honor of Mother's Day here is the story of Mother's Day.

Way way way back in the day
As far as I know (which isn't all that far) the 1600's is the first time people officially got together to celebrate a Mother's Day. It was in England and it was called Mothering Day. It was a big deal because the working class was given that Sunday off to go visit their families in what ever town they came from.
The often unseen children would take a break from lent to feast with their mom's and shower her with gifts like flowers and cake. Goes to show somethings never change.

The American mother's day

This is where the strong women stuff comes in. When the British settled in America they stopped celebrating the traditional mothering day. They were busy and didn't really care to celebrate women.
The Mother's day we are familiar with today started as a mother's prayer. This mother. Anna Reeves Jarvis.

She worked giving medical aid to both sides in the civil war. She worked for universal health care for the poor. This was an awesome woman way a head of her time.
Her young daughter Anna M. Jarvis heard her mother praying for a day to celebrate the hard work and dedication of mothers.
After her mother's death she quit her job to make her mother's dream come true with an all most endless string of petitions. This was before the internet so petitions were a hell of a lot of work. In 1912 Virginia became the first state to officially recognize Mother's day.   In 1914 Woodrow Wilson named the second Sunday in May Mother's day! Yay! Wahoo!

She named the white carnation the flower of Mother's Day because it was her mom's favorite flower. Also "It’s one of the few flowers that when it dies it doesn’t drop its petals. So it’s the idea of this lasting mother love. That you still feel it long after your mother is gone.”.
To top it off it was reasonably priced and readily available.

Where The Story Gets Sad

Florist soon started taking advantage of this and charging more for them. Soon after that candy and card makers got in on it and soon Mother's day was big money business.
Seeing her loving memorial to her mother turned into a cash cow for heartless companies she copy righted the phrases "Mother's day" and "second Sunday in May" (not sure how that works) to keep companies from profiting on what she saw as her holiday. She spent not only the rest of her fortune but the rest of her life trying to preserve the honor in Mother's day.
"A printed card means nothing except that you are too lazy to write to the woman who has done more for you than anyone in the world. And candy! You take a box to Mother—and then eat most of it yourself. A pretty sentiment."

—Anna Jarvis

Where it gets really sad

She eventually died blind, broke, and defeated in a mental institution in Philadelphia.

So try to keep in mind what the day is really about. And pay some respect to the Mothers of Mother's day.
XOXO

Could you cheer for someone who sexually assaulted you?

I am so mad right now I feel like I could burst into flames!

There is more sexism and blaming the victim! Of course it's in TX! The boy's club state!
Fucking read this and see if it doesn't make your eyes want to vomit!

"The Supreme Court refused to review the case of a high school cheerleader who was kicked off the squad for refusing to cheer for the basketball player she said had raped her. And as a lovely parting gift, the girl’s family must now repay the school $45,000 in legal fees for what a lower court termed as a frivolous lawsuit. Way to harsh our Bin Laden buzz, America.
You probably remember the Silsbee High School (Texas) cheerleading case. A then-cheerleader for the school was dismissed from the squad for refusing to cheer for the basketball player she said had raped her. H.S., as she is identified, is now in college, but she appealed the school’s ruling all the way to the Supreme Court. And on Monday the Court declined to review her appeal, nearly two years after the original incident.
Rakheem Bolton was accused of sexually assaulting the 16-year-old at a party. He was eventually convicted of misdemeanor assault, and got probation, a fine, and had to attend anger management classes.
H.S. said that the school at first told her to avoid Bolton and to refrain from attending homecoming activities, which she refused to do. She had been booted off the cheerleading squad for refusing to cheer for Bolton by name during a basketball game. The specific cheer was: “Two, four, six, eight, ten, come on, Rakheem, put it in.” No, I’m not making that up.
She was dismissed from the team for her actions. “As a team, I cheered for them as a whole. When he stepped up to the free-throw line, it didn’t feel right for me to have to cheer for him after what he did to me,” she said.
A federal appeals court ruled in September that the cheerleader was speaking for the school, not herself, and had no right to remain silent when called on to cheer the athlete by name.
The Supreme Court denied review of the case Monday without comment.
The family’s lawyer, Laurence Watts, said the ruling means students who try to exercise their right of free speech can be punished for refusing to follow “insensitive and unreasonable directions.”
And as a reward for trying to stick up for herself and not buckle to the pressures of authority, bureaucracy and male chauvinism, the girl’s parents receive a $45,000 bill for legal expenses. It’s a terrific byproduct of our legal system, wherein victims are cowered into keeping quiet by the prospect of negative publicity and extreme financial hardship. I guess that’s what it means when people say our freedom isn’t free."

I will probably edit this later after I'm done being blinded by rage! I have to figure out who I need to write and call (in the government) to bitch about this! If someone has any ideas let me know !

Tips for mother's day

Mother's day is coming up I thought I would help out for people trying to figure out what to do for the mother's in their life.  That's what I do I'm a helper.

What mom wants
1. A break! From kids, from stress, from responsibility. Give that bitch a nap... bitches love naps.
2. Wine, beer, booze, maybe a little reefer I don't know I'm not here to judge.
3. A massage our feet hurt damnit!
4. Some sex. Not your mother but the mother of your children. I in no way endorse incest. Maybe this list should go a break, booze, massage, sex, nap. That sounds like an awesome day.
5. Any of the old classics jewelry, candies, flowers, fancy dinner. Warning on the flowers some women don't like them because they die they are expensive they die and make a mess. And if she is on a diet no candy!
6. No bitching all day. Just complete agreement and admiration. No dirty diapers. No cleaning. Just wow you are so beautiful and wonderful and you smell nice. How can you be so smart? I'm so lucky just to be in your presence. Blah blah blah.
PS during #4 don't make her mother again. You have to be careful.
