What The Hell (The Debt Ceiling Edition)?

I know a lot of you are tired of hearing about the debt ceiling and the whole freak show circus. You should be good god what a bunch of bullshit.

Still no matter how annoying the whole thing is, it is really important. I have heard a lot of people saying we shouldn't poo poo on our president because he is on our team. I say fuck that he doesn't get a free pass. I'm not in some kind of denial were I'm not going to acknowledge that democrats just got their ass handed to them. Don't get me wrong this is not his fault. The terrorist in congress did this, but it seems like having a democrat as president and democrats as the majority in the senate would be enough to keep the republicans from molesting us. At least enough to pull them off a little.

A little about our wins

When did people's expectations become so low? They didn't cut from social security. Why the fuck would they? Social security isn't causing the deficit. Why the hell was that ever an option? Poor medicare like it didn't have enough issues.

Another one of our so called wins is the debt ceiling was raised. Woopty fucking doo! Since 1962 it has been raised 74 times. Not that I'm trying to down play how awesome it is that our country can go another few months with out slipping into anarchy, but seriously? Hopefully (because we don't know anything for sure yet) we have avoided yet another catastrophe. The government who is suppose to be working for us and the best they can do is agree to borrow more money to pay it's bills. Yes, I know dealing with the crazy people saying they want to see this country default is difficult. I just can't be happy that this is our accomplishment. The teabaggers have turned what should have been a mundane task into the fucking government Olympics.

For some reason people are considering the Bush tax cuts not being in the deal a win for us, but they are still happening so no. People are saying they are going to expire which is great, but I think I heard that before. I'm not going to jump the gun on that. Again that is the republicans fault, but at the end of the day we still all get fucked no matter whose fault it is.

Yes, this deal does not mean the death of us all. We get to keep social security and some other "entitlement" programs pretty much unharmed (so far they could fuck them up later). I just can't ignore the fact that after that whole big dog and pony show no closing loopholes, no tax increases. It makes me want to vomit. I don't even mind most of the budget cuts but all the sacrifice is coming from the working class. Not Democrats or Republicans, everyone who takes their kids to public schools or works a normal job and has plans on growing old in this country.

Also what the fuck is up with this super congress or super commission bull plop? They pull this idea straight out of their asses and we are just suppose to be ok with it? We will give this thing that they just made up and give it all kinds of powers that affect our lives? Does anyone else feel violated?

face it people we lost this one. I'm not saying we should over react and freak out. Not that a bunch of protest aren't in order right now. There should be more this shit is crazy, but don't make it more sensational then it is. It is not the end of the world, it sucks and it sure as hell is not a win for the American people so don't polish this turd like its some daisy plucked from Obama's master plan either.

What is really sad is we don't really know how bad it is. This is still a work in progress and some very important details are not a for sure thing yet.

  1. I'm just sick about this. I have a hard time with Obama's wanting to compromise with a bunch of fruitloops who's sole goal is to get him out of office. But as unhappy as I am with him, I have to applaud him for attempting to show how our system SHOULD work.

  2. Right now, it's better than catastrophe, but you're right, it sux. That's how compromise is, sometimes. Sometimes, one has to go with the best of two bad or horrible outcomes. That's where we're at here. It doesn't mean things can't get better eventually - it just means this is now. What it does mean is that we, the people, have to wise up from this and not relax our vigilance and not forget who fkd this up!
